BUT WHAT ABOUT QUEEN AND THE COMMONWEALTH?

I'm not sure of the ramifications on the Commonwealth itself of Her Majesty the Queen becoming "Mrs Elizabeth Windsor, citizen of the EU." How can she justify being the Sovereign of our country at that point, let alone the head of state for a 53 member alliance? In that sense, Albert Burgess' allegations of High Treason are VERY relevant indeed.

No-one, not even the Monarch, can interrupt the line of succession, under the laws of our nation - they can abdicate their throne to their successor, but they can't move to scrap the Monarchy altogether. Within our nation, no-one is above the law.

Article 10 of the Treaty of Lisbon states:

"The constitution and law adopted by the Union's institutions in exercising competences conferred on it shall have primacy over the law of the member states."

Again, working through the doublespeak, this states that our involvement and ratification of this Treaty legally allows the EU to abolish the Monarchy, the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
